Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (2025)

Listen up, Star Wars fans! The galaxy far, far away has blessed us with more TV shows than you can swing a lightsaber at. From epic animated adventures to groundbreaking live-action series, the Star Wars universe keeps expanding faster than the Empire’s territory during happy hour.

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (1)

Ready to dive into this ranking of every Star Wars show out there? We’re covering everything from the depths of Disney+ to some seriously old-school gems.

18. Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures (2023)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (2)

Starting off the list with something simple. Set during the High Republic era, this animated series follows a group of Jedi younglings as they learn the ways of the Force. The reason it is ranked so low in this list is that it does not really add anything to the Star Wars lore. Adding to that is that although they have over-simplified the concept of Jedi training.

Yes, it’s aimed at preschoolers, but the silver lining to that is that the animation is bright and engaging. So, maybe using it to introduce the children into the Jedi world won’t be the worst idea.

17. Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures (2018-2020)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (3)

Props to the makers for showing how to remix classic Star Wars moments. But where it fails is that it relies too heavily on nostalgia. Nostalgia sells, no doubt about that, but showing stories with no original content, limited highlight-reel moments, and characters with no particular arc is where the series fails the audience.

Well, credit where credit is due, while they’re not telling new stories, the fresh animation style and dynamic action sequences do make familiar moments feel brand new.

16. Star Wars: Resistance (2018-2020)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (4)

Look, we really wanted to love this one. The show takes place in the sequel trilogy era and follows Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot recruited by the Resistance for a secret mission. Cool premise, right? Well, that’s about where the excitement ends.

Despite having a gorgeous cel-shaded animation style that looks like it walked straight out of an anime, Resistance somehow managed to make being a spy in the Star Wars universe not thrilling. The characters are mostly forgettable (sorry, Kaz), and the stakes never feel high enough to get your heart racing.

Even BB-8’s adorable appearances couldn’t save this one from being stuck in the galaxy’s slow lane. It’s not terrible – it’s just that everything else is so much better.

15. The Acolyte (2024)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (5)

The new kid on the block takes us back to the High Republic era, when the Jedi were at their peak and the Sith were supposedly extinct (narrator: they weren’t). Set in a more luxurious, less grimy version of the Star Wars universe, The Acolyte feels like a murder mystery in space wizard clothing.

Where the show actually falters is the pacing which feels uneven at times. Jumping between different storylines and characters can be a narrative device to keep the audience engaged (shout out to Mr. Christopher Nolan) but here it is a bit confusing.

Adding on to that, audiences found a bunch of plot holes, especially in the season finale, which is the reason the show ranks this low in the list. The show gets points for trying something different though, it’s basically “what if film noir, but with lightsabers?”

14. Star Wars: Droids (1985-1986)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (6)

Remember when our favorite droids, C-3PO and R2-D2, got their own animated series? This vintage show follows the dynamic duo on their adventures before they met Luke Skywalker, and it’s exactly as weird as you’d expect from an ’80s cartoon.

Although the animation hasn’t aged well and it’s mostly remembered as a quirky relic of 1980s Star Wars mania, Anthony Daniels‘ voice work still remains delightful.

13. Star Wars: Ewoks (1985-1987)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (7)

If you thought the Ewoks couldn’t get any more kid-friendly after Return of the Jedi, boy, were you wrong. This series takes us back to Endor for more adventures with everyone’s favorite space furry buddies. The show dials the cuteness up to 11 while basically forgetting that these little furballs are actually savage warriors.

It’s full of whimsical stories about Wicket and his pals getting into trouble, solving magical problems, and generally being adorable. The animation quality is basically what you’d expect from the mid-’80s, still, there’s a certain charm to its simplicity. Also, it’s fascinating to see how Star Wars tried to appeal to younger audiences back in the day.

12. The Book of Boba Fett (2021-2022)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (8)

Where to even start with this one? Boba Fett, the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy, somehow ended up starring in a show that’s more about town council meetings than bounty hunting.

Look, we get it – people change and character development is important, but watching Boba play the small-town mayor on Tatooine wasn’t exactly what fans had in mind after that awesome tease in The Mandalorian.

“Disney just immediately folded and brought Baby Yoda back”: Disney Made Pedro Pascal’s Gutwrenching Arc Completely Useless With a Grave Mistake in The Book of Boba Fett

Temuera Morrison brings gravitas to the role and seeing him interact with the Tuskens was genuinely compelling. But between the unnecessary amount of time spent on bureaucratic dealings and that infamous speeder chase that looked slower than rush hour traffic, this show feels like a missed opportunity to tell a truly gritty crime story in the Star Wars universe.

11. Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (10)

Hello there! The return of Ewan McGregor as our favorite space Jesus should have been an automatic home run, right? Well, it’s complicated. The show gives us some genuinely epic moments – that final duel with Vader? Pure poetry in motion. And little Leia? Absolutely perfect casting.

But for every high point, there’s a head-scratching moment that makes you wonder what the writers were thinking. Still, when the show hits its stride, it really hits. The emotional weight of Obi-Wan’s guilt, his relationship with young Leia, and those incredible Vader scenes (especially with Hayden Christensen back in the suit) make this a worthy, if somewhat uneven, addition to the saga.

10. Star Wars: Visions (2021-)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (11)

Now this is podracing! Finally, someone at Lucasfilm said, “Hey, what if we let some of the world’s best anime studios just freestyle with Star Wars?” And boy, did they deliver. Each episode is like a fever dream in the best possible way – we’re talking lightsaber umbrellas, rock opera space battles, and samurai-style showdowns that would make George Lucas’s jaw drop.

The 5th episode of SW Visions, the Ninth Jedi, is the best route the franchise should take post-Skywalker Saga

The animation styles are all over the place, from ultra-realistic to completely stylized, and that’s exactly what makes it special. Sure, not every episode is a winner (they can’t all be “The Ninth Jedi”), but the sheer creativity on display here is mind-blowing.

9. Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi (2022)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (12)

Tales of the Jedi swooped in out of nowhere and delivered some of the most emotionally charged 15-minute episodes in Star Wars history. Half the series focuses on Count Dooku’s fall to the dark side (turns out the guy had some pretty valid points about the Republic being corrupt), while the other half gives us more Ahsoka content (and who doesn’t want that?).

The animation is absolutely gorgeous – like The Clone Wars got a fancy upgrade. What makes this show special is how it manages to pack more character development into 15 minutes than some shows manage in entire seasons. Sure, it’s short, but like Master Yoda says, “Size matters not.”

8. The Bad Batch (2021-)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (13)

Imagine if someone took The A-Team, made them all clones, and threw them into the Star Wars universe during one of its darkest periods (like in Spy Kids). That’s The Bad Batch in a nutshell, and it’s way cooler than it has any right to be.

Following Clone Force 99 (aka the Bad Batch) and their adopted sister Omega, the show explores what happens when the Empire takes over and you’re suddenly on the wrong side of history. Each member of the squad has their own distinct personality (Tech is basically me trying to explain Star Wars lore to my friends), and watching them navigate the changing galaxy while protecting Omega hits right in the feels.

The animation is top-tier – seriously, some of these action sequences look better than live-action stuff. Plus, we get to see the Empire’s rise from a completely different perspective, which adds layers to the whole Star Wars saga.

7. Star Wars: Forces of Destiny (2017-2018)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (15)

Don’t let anyone tell you these shorts don’t count as a real show, because they absolutely do, and they’re fantastic! Forces of Destiny is like getting a bunch of deleted scenes featuring all your favorite female characters from Star Wars, and who wouldn’t want that? We’re talking Ahsoka, Leia, Rey, Jyn Erso, and more, all having adventures that fill in cool little gaps in the timeline.

The animation style might look simple at first glance, but it grows on you. What makes these episodes special is how they show that heroism isn’t just about epic lightsaber battles or blowing up Death Stars – sometimes it’s about helping others in small but meaningful ways.

6. Star Wars Rebels (2014-2018)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (16)

Alright, let’s talk about the little show that started off looking like a kid’s program and ended up delivering some of the most mind-bending Force mythology in all of Star Wars. Rebels follows the crew of the Ghost as they basically become the spark that lights the Rebellion’s fire, and it’s one wild ride from start to finish.

The show gave us Ezra Bridger, a street rat turned Jedi who’s actually fun to watch grow up, and Grand Admiral Thrawn, who’s basically what would happen if Sherlock Holmes was a blue alien who joined Space Hitler’s Navy. But the real MVP? Kanan Jarrus, the Jedi who never finished his training but still managed to become one of the best masters in the saga.

5. Ahsoka (2023)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (18)

Finally, the student becomes the master! Ahsoka getting her own live-action show is like watching your favorite indie band make it to the big leagues – you knew they had it in them all along. Rosario Dawson absolutely nails the role, bringing that perfect mix of warrior wisdom and residual snippiness that makes Ahsoka who she is.

The show feels like Star Wars Rebels graduated to live-action, complete with space whales and mystical Force journeys. What makes this show even more special is how it manages to blend the mystical side of Star Wars with good old-fashioned space opera.

The show doesn’t hold your hand with explanations either – you’re either along for the ride or you’re not, and that’s kind of refreshing in what we mostly witness in today’s spoon-fed streaming world.

4. The Mandalorian (2019-)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (19)

This is the way to make a Star Wars show that appeals to literally everyone. The Mandalorian dropped onto Disney+ like a beskar-plated gift from the streaming gods, proving that you don’t need a single Skywalker to make compelling Star Wars content (well, until Luke showed up, but we’ll let that slide).

Din Djarin and Grogu’s space dad adventures somehow manage to feel both fresh and nostalgic at the same time, like finding a new favorite comfort food. The show brings back that classic Western-in-space vibe that inspired George Lucas in the first place, complete with shootouts, salon standoffs, and all that good stuff.

Pedro Pascal somehow manages to act circles around everyone while wearing a helmet 99% of the time – that’s talent, folks! And let’s be real, Grogu (aka Baby Yoda) isn’t just cute merchandise bait; he’s the emotional core that makes this whole show work. Each episode feels like a side quest in the best possible video game, and even when the plot gets a bit meandering (looking at you, Season 3), it’s still quite entertaining.

3. Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008-2020)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (21)

If there was ever a show that proved “animated” doesn’t mean “just for kids,” it’s The Clone Wars. This series took the prequel era, which let’s face it, had quite some mixed reviews and turned it into something absolutely magnificent.

Starting off with a somewhat rocky movie, the show evolved into a complex war drama that just happened to take place in space. It gave us Ahsoka Tano, arguably one of the best characters in all of Star Wars, and worked on the issues with Anakin’s character to transform him into a genuinely tragic figure.

“I almost didn’t get the job”: In a Parallel Universe, Dave Filoni Nearly Killed Star Wars by Giving up on The Clone Wars For 1 Very Valid Reason

The show tackles everything from political intrigue to the moral implications of clone armies, all while delivering some of the best lightsaber battles ever animated. And those final four episodes? Pure perfection.

The episodes play out like a beautiful, heartbreaking opera that just happens to involve laser swords and space wizards. Plus, any show that can make us care about a bunch of identical clone troopers as individual characters deserves all the praise in the galaxy.

2. Andor (2022-)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (23)

Hold onto your thermal detonators, because Andor isn’t just great Star Wars television – it’s great television, period. This show is what happens when you take Star Wars deadly seriously but still remember to make it entertaining. No Force powers, no lightsabers, no problem! Instead, we get a gritty, ground-level view of how ordinary people get pushed to do extraordinary things.

Diego Luna‘s Cassian Andor starts as a guy just trying to survive and ends up being the spark that helps light the rebellion’s fuse. The show tackles heavy themes like oppression, surveillance states, and rebellion with all the subtlety of a political thriller and none of the usual space fantasy trappings.

Every character feels real, from the true believers to the Imperial bureaucrats just trying to climb the ladder. That prison break arc? Better than most heist movies. The attention to detail is insane – even the background characters feel like they have full life stories.

Now that Disney has announced that the second season will be out in 2025, refresh your memory by watching the first season on Disney+.

1. Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003-2005)

Every Star Wars TV Show, Ranked from Worst to Best (25)

Alright, hear me out on this one, because putting Genndy Tartakovsky‘s Clone Wars micro-series at the top might seem like a hot take, but this show is literally perfect at what it sets out to do. This is Star Wars turned up a notch where Mace Windu can take down an entire droid army with his bare hands and it somehow feels totally appropriate.

The show barely has any dialogue and yet it tells the stories efficiently. The animation style is distinctive and very action sequence is choreographed like a deadly ballet, and the way it builds tension without words is masterclass storytelling.

This series walked so The Clone Wars could run, giving us our first real look at General Grievous when he was actually scary, and showing the Clone Wars as the epic conflict we always imagined. It’s short, sweet, and literally perfect – not a single frame is wasted.
