Neve Romance Guide - Dragon Age: The Veilguard Guide - IGN (2024)

Neve Gallus is an investigator who works with the Shadow Dragons in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. She’s quick-witted, but also a realist, and generally approves of more stern options (bottom right), with some occasional lighthearted ones being preferred as well (middle right). We’ll take you through what she likes, romance scenes, and how to improve your relationship with her!

This guide is a work in progress! We'll be updating with more Neve side quest content and specific romance tips in the coming days.

Special Neve Conversation Points

Below are some ways that you can quickly boost your bond with Neve. In general, Neve is appreciative of wit in the form of comedic dialogue options, marked with the drama mask. Be sure to check out our Walkthrough and Major Choices and Consequences to see how those affect your relationship as well!

Optional Conversation 1 - After the Gods are Unleashed

This conversation will be a little different depending on who you chose to accompany you to take down the statue in The End of the Beginning.

If you chose to bring Neve with you to the statue, Neve asks “If we’re stuck in this, let’s hope you can trust me again.” Answer “Let’s hope things go smoother.” if you want to flirt. Otherwise, choose “I do trust you.”

If Neve did not come with you to the statue, she will say, “It’s a start.” Answer “Quite the start” to take your first chance to flirt.

Then, Neve says “Not much. I’m sure Lace would hate to hear that but… one step at a time.” Regardless of your choice here, Neve will approve.

Companion Quest and Gift: Fit for a Detective

By purchasing a gift for Neve from this merchant in Dock Town (denoted by Neve's portrait near the item), you'll unlock the companion quest Fit for a Detective. Head back to the Lighthouse and give Neve this gift to boost your bond with her!

Optional Conversation 2 - Neve and Assan

In the lead up to The Seige of Weisshaupt, you’ll get to interact with Neve and Davrin’s griffon, Assan. None of the conversation choices here seem to have a impact on your relationship with her.

Companion Quest - The Cobbled Swan Case

When you first receive the quest, while Neve and Lucanis are talking about coffee, joke "Maybe it's Tevinter style" to get some extra approval from Neve. Not many of the dialogue choices have a positive effect here, but you do get a few chances to flirt. Always check the top left for these options! At the wrap-up of the mission, when Neve tells you about Aelia, say "She’ll fall this time” for one more approval boost.

Romance Interest Conversation - What the Wisps are Drawn To

This conversation is a big inflection point for your relationship with Neve! It will show up as an optional conversation with a yellow exclamation mark on her icon in the Lighthouse. The following were my conditions when it appeared, though due to the wide variety of decisions in Dragon Age, it could be different for you.

• Completed The Seige of Weisshaupt
• Completed Neve's companion quests up to The Cobbled Swan Case
• Raised Neve's relationship level to 6

Flirt with her at the first opportunity, and you'll be given the choice shown above to continue your romance with her. Answer "I like surprising you" to get one step closer to a possible romance. This doesn't cut you off from other possible romances yet if you change your mind, but will get you one step closer to the final romance scene.

Companion Quest - Chasing Leads

During this short conversation, you'll have a chance to get a small approval boost from Neve. When Elek Tavor mentions having names, but cautious and say "I don't buy it," for an approval boost from Neve. After this, you should be able to return to the Lighthouse and immediately receive a new companion quest from Neve.

Companion Quest - A Clear Mind

In the beginning of this quest, you'll get to commit to an exclusive relationship with Neve. Simply choose the flirt option (top left) in the dialogue wheel, and you'll eventually get the option shown above, which will allow you to choose "I'm here. No matter what." to commit to your relationship!

Companion Quest - Keep a Light On

You'll have a few options that can help boost your approval from Neve. If you're a part of the Mourn Watch, you can say "Everyone mourns differently" when Neve says "I should've been back sooner." Otherwise, you can say "Don't be so hard on yourself" for the same result. When Rana mentions a location she found, say "What's the catch?" to get an additional approval boost.

Companion Quest - The Returned Cultist Case

When you're receiving this quest, Neve will say "Now we've got a Sanctum." Say "Let's finish this" for an extra approval boost, then head to Dock Town to start the mission proper. Completing this quest won't have any immediate romantic payoff, but will give Neve the Hero of the Veilguard status and grant you a piece of legendary armor.

Companion Quest - The Local Hero

This quest lets you and Neve finally go to the Cobbled Swan for a reason other than a case! Other than a few chances to flirt, this quest offers you a chance to see the Dock Town that your decision at the end of The Returned Cultist Case leaves behind.

Final Romance Scene - The Dragon and the Dread Wolf

You'll get to view the final romance scene in the main quest The Dragon and the Dread Wolf. This comes after the point of no return, so don't worry about finding it before then! As long as you complete Neve's companion quest line and committed to your relationship in A Clear Mind, this scene should be available to you. Return to Rook's room, and you'll get to have one final tender moment with Neve before the climactic final battle.
